ISBN 1-894933-07-9

Volumes Publishing is pleased to announce the release of the latest Jazlyn J book in the popular A-Z series.

In keeping with the positive thinking theme behind the series, a bad hair day sets Jazlyn J off on another new adventure. She tries to change her “look”, only to find out that the look she had wasn’t so bad at all. A terrific book for kids on self-acceptance and experimenting.

The illustrations are colourful and fun, allowing kids to really have a laugh at Jazlyn J’s attempts for something “new”. Kids AND parents will love and relate to this easy-going, hysterical look at bad hair days.

This is the 8th book in the Jazlyn J series, which is publishing titles for each letter of the alphabet. Look for other titles at www.jazlynj.com

About the Author:

Renná Bruce was born in Rivers, Manitoba and traveled across Canada with her military family during her childhood. She never thought she’d settle long enough in one place, to write books and have her dreams come true!!     She graduated from Ryerson in Toronto from the Radio and Television Arts program with a Bachelor of Arts degree and she has published in poetry, creative writing, short stories and newspaper reporting. She has also been a copywriter, broadcaster and account manager for radio. Now, she is a children’s author.
The series was born out of her desire to create a character that could help children find the bright side to any day and teach them to focus on what went right, rather than what went wrong. “Favourite parts” of the day was a ritual that Renná and her son started when he was just 4 years old. It is now something that they look forward to every night, just like Jazlyn J.

Currently touring bookstores, festivals and visiting schools, Renná hopes to empower children to take everyday and make it a good one, while her stories also work to teach a life lesson. Together with her illustrator and friend, Robin Oakes, Jazlyn J has been brought to life! Renná currently lives in Guelph, Ontario with her husband and son.

About the illustrator:

Robin Oakes was born and raised in Kitchener, Ontario. She began teaching cartooning classes which evolved into a full-time teaching job. She pursued various teaching jobs throughout schools, galleries and community centres. When not illustrating, she does murals for various companies and enjoys producing her fine art. She also entertains with caricatures of people in her spare time. She still lives in Kitchener with her husband and two daughters.
